Online Banking Customer Awareness

Your Online Security

Hocking Valley Bank is committed to making your online and mobile banking experience safe and secure.

There are a lot of scams out there. We want you to know how to keep your banking information safe. While the scam might vary, below are some common ways fraudsters will try to get your information.

  • Asking for your online password and 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) code
  • Gaining access to your computer or personal device
  • Tricking you into entering your banking information

The following steps can help to protect you.

  • Never share your digital banking username and password.  Fraudsters posing as Microsoft, Amazon, PayPal, and your bank will ask for your credentials to “assist with a problem on your account.” Hocking Valley Bank will NEVER ask you for your digital banking password or 2FA code. We will never access your individual online banking portal for any reason.
  • Never allow an unknown individual to have remote access to your computer. Companies like Microsoft and Norton will never call you and ask to access your computer. If a caller tells you they need to log into your device remotely, it is likely a fraudster attempting to gain access to your personal information. If you have login information saved to your computer, the fraudster will be able to steal it.
  • Do not click on suspicious links in emails, text messages, or websites. These links are often an attempt to gather private data and can lead to sites that download viruses or malware to your device.
  • Contact us at 740-592-4441 for assistance if you believe you are the victim of fraud.
